Another little incident for Loui today :-(

He has been doing so well, really getting back to himself....then the first off lead dog we see today started on him....the poor boy is getting better and better but still just gets crap thrown at him

To be fair the other owner didnt expect her dog to lunge at him and 'shout' (and Loui wasnt exactly lying on the ground submitting) but it really wasnt him at the route....poor boy!

No-one was bitten or anything like that, I just felt a bit sorry for him really, maybe its the mood I'm in today or something, I feel a bit like I'm training him to take nonsense from dogs in a way - you ever feel sorry for your dog?

I must admit that these days I detour to avoid dogs when my lot are on lead. It`s not that they`re DA - it`s simply that most owners are clueless.

My Louie is wandering around like I've put him somewhere he's been beaten and battered - he's only at my parents house and they spoil him rotten!

I feel sorry for Sadie because she gets picked on by Louie and next doors dog Alfie, only playful picked on, and then when she's at her house she has Missy to put up with and toddlers!

I feel sorry for Benjie because he wasn't given the best start in life and then he was "rescued" by people who knew next to nothing about dogs - so he hasn't any friends and doesn't seem to want to make friends - he's never been shown how..

I don't know what has happened to your Loui, I hope he'll settle back into himself soon though and like Claire said - most owners are clueless..

- ditto -!!!

I'm so fed up with it now, the only dogs mine gets to meet are those we know who are 100% friendly, or those who amble over to us onlead just to say hi with their owners coz I've had so much c*ap like you have, I just daren't risk it now, plus I walk in solitary just seeing the odd ones I know anyway.

Poor Louis, I do hope he doesn't end up like mine by having a go back big time, but who can blame them when they've taken all these assaults on them! Too many numpty owners out there who just don't have a clue!

I don't know what has happened to your Loui
Well he was heavily socialised as a pup and matured into a dog that was very good at communicating (that is after his boisterous teenage stage lol) he could get a shy dog interested in him, avoid 'unpredictable' dogs/situations, if a dog lunged at him and gave him all the noise and teeth he would just raise an eyebrow, lift that head and walk on....if they seemed fearful and reactive he just stood sniffing until they realised..too much nonsense and he just stood there on his tippy toes and it could stop but we have been seeing so many dogs that just cannot seem to communicate (or dont want to?) and just go straight into trying to get hold of him etc that he has been reacting himself, where you wouldnt have seen that before... Its like he just decided to miss out some steps as they wont listen..He has been REALLY improving and I have to admit I'm still proud of him as once he got the message and the other dog was on lead he did go on a bit and stay away (well after one last 'go'..a bit handbags at 10 paces really)...but I just feel a bit sorry for him really.

both dogs were off lead, I have met these owners before and have to admit they are usually very responsible......however this dog came out ahead of her and stood infront (Loui was lying down behind me and I had the ball) then he got up to go past the dog and the dog lunged - you know how it is...neither wants to give in, nothing serious but I'm just starting to feel a bit sorry for him!

i know what u mean bout feeling sorry for your dog... the amount of times Tupac try's to engage dogs in a chase game(politely) and gets knocked back is sad

tbf tho, maybe u are in a sensitive mood...doesnt sound like nowt but two dogs communicating to me(i know i wasnt there tho)

Tupac 'lunged' at a gsd at the common the other day(both on leads and Tupac giving the big 'i am' cos hes a pussy)
i stopped to talk to the lady, next second Tupac is crashed out on his side dozing! after ,we both walked off in opposite directions and let them both off lead...then the dog that Tupse had 'lunged' at joined him in chasing a crow...no grudges held on either side

I think your right, maybe I'm just a bit sensitive today, I did say to the woman that no harm had come to either and so on but it just feels like every time we go out now theres a problem of some degree with another dog (if not all the ones we meet)

There's a new dog I meet most morning, thankfully, not round a corner yet but the guy see's me put mine onlead (coz I know his is nasty about Zena!), so he gets down on the floor and makes numerous attempts at calling his dog back. When it arrives, he takes it by the collar and walks past us giving us space and the bladdy thing is snapping and snarling at Zena who doesn't take a blind bit of notice as she walks past it The other morning it was higher up than us, on the top slope and it had the gall to lean over the side and give Zena lots of verbal with it's teeth showing!! Christ, if ever we DO meet that thing around one of the bends I dread to think, but for the moment, he's good enough to take a hold of it, but WHY is a dog like that offlead then anyway????!!!!!

Walking is such a pleasure nowadays isn't it with all these loose dogs running around

Yep, but the hard thing is, its mostly dogs that approach him (and are off lead) that are doing this. We have been walking in quieter areas but it seems that rather than having less dogs be like this with him, there are just less dogs and they all mostly grumps
