Dog beards

Hi everyone!

My staffy-x dogs are both 2 and a bit now. I noticed that they both have white/grey little hairs on their chins. Makes me feel like they are aging too quickly

I believe they are fairly healthy and are regularly exercised. I want them to live for as long as doggily-possible, after all, I love them to bits

At what age have you experienced this in your past/current canine pals?

My GSD's started to get grey chins when they hit 5. I put it down to the stressful lives they lead (NOT).

Darker dogs look grey earlier we found, our brown benny had greying hair from about 5 whereas we haven't noticed Mollie changing colour until she was 10 (blonde/white hides it).

My last GSD didn't have a grey or white hair or whisker on her ever - she died when she was about 11. I think it does make them 'look' older and more likely to appear younger without grey muzzles but am guessing it's just one of those things - like with us human beans. Some of us go grey, some bald, some thinning - some never do.

Hmmmm..... My two have dark coats. Good thing, Chillie likes to sunbake

I suppose people go grey at 21. My dogs' lives are pretty full on Imagine, trying to decide which couch to have a nap on (we have 6).....

I think you could probably be reported for that (having so many couches) it must place a terrible mental strain on your dogs - decisions, decisions, decisions. Poor things.

Don't panic. It totally depends on the type and colour of the dogs coat. One of mine who started off black is going grey all over (other than his legs, tail and ears) and he is only 2.

Paddy went properly grey on the muzzle at around 5 and Pippa is just starting to grey on her eyebrows now, she is 5 at the moment.
