My mum does them with left over roast beef from Sunday lunch and cubed potatoes, but the rest of that recipe looks ok

I usually just cube potatoes and put them onto boil.. Once they have boiled down a little (if you are using skinless sausages cut them up and put them in now).. fry onions for a few minutes and add them too.. Continue to let them boil down.. (until they go mushy, add more water if required) once its all mushy serve..

if using corned beef wait until the last 5 minutes and add it..

Thank you I shall try yet again

Don't know whether to thank you for the link though Carole - Mr SB is drooling over peculiar sounding things: Clootie dumpling, Tablet, Clapshot, etc

I also make a simple risotto

4 cups rice
chopped peppers
carrots
leek
mushrooms
and chicken breast chopped
chicken stock cubes x 2

Put rice in pan with stock cubes
Add boiled water just enough to start rice floating
stir and start cooking

after 10 mins add everything uncooked (inc chicken) to the pan
keep topping up so the rice stays sticky

Add 1 tsp chilli powder and dash of worcester sauce

Keep cooking till rice is soft

Hey presto!!
