Parvo outbreak in Dumfries, Scotland

My daughter rang me the other day to tell me that thier GSD Metz had parvo She was really ill and they didn't think she was going to pull through. With vigilance and the help of thier vet, she's now on the road to a full recovery

According to thier vet, there have been quite a few outbreaks up there, as well as a few in Edinbrough (I think) Anyone who lives up there, please be vigilant and make sure your dogs are up to date on all of thier vaccines.

Thank goodness Metz was ok. It is hard to believe parvo can still be a killer in this day and age.

Thanks Becky. My daughter said that Metz is now eating and drinking normally, but is still a little weak. She about 9 now, so she's done well to pull through it as quickly as she has.

Sorry hun :smt058 Brain is a bit scrambled at the moment

No. My daughters partner had her last vaccine done when she was about four. I guess she thought the same as most of us do, that she'd already have the immunity against it

Guess this is proof that that theory doesn't always apply

Glad to hear she's on the mend I had Dax boostered last month as I heard that dead foxes had been found in Sutton Park in Birmingham & PMs had shown it was parvo. My vet said there seemed to be outbreaks all over the country just at present.

Oh my, thank goodness Metz is okay, Parvo is so horrible - I do hope it doesn't become an epidemic
