80% meat, sinew, ligaments, fat
10% edible bone

Remember, you’re aiming for:

80% meat, sinew, ligaments, fat, can also include heart meat
10% edible bone
5% liver
5% other organ meat

So for 375g of food a day this equals:

300g meat, sinew, ligaments, fat, heart meat
37.5g edible bone
18.75g liver
18.75g other organ meat

These measurements don’t have to be exact, just to bear in mind.

You cannot go far wrong if you follow the advice here A rough BARF guide but adjust it to what your dog thrives on.

Personally I would not leave any kibble down for him to free-feed/nibble on.

That link is just a rough guide - very informative but not set in stone. I still refer to it occasionally but it gave me a good grounding in what is needed for raw feeding when I changed Pereg from kibble to raw. I just adjusted, and still adjust, what I give her, according to what I have and how she is doing.

But it is an excellent guide for someone who has never raw fed before.

it is totally great just read some of it read more indepth later xx

iv been raw feeding for about a year but not soley dependent on it ....there are not many buctures close to me and the ones that are dont have scraps/ off cuts etc just the odd beef marrow bone if uu get in there quick....

which is dissapointing hence why 1/4 of my tesco shop is for my dogs .... im going to google cheaper ways to buy in their meat and put better effort into making a veg mix as their veg intake is used as more of a treat/toy to keep them busy but im sure they could do with more in their bowls as well x

thanks again i will have another look through and do some enquiries as to where to source cheaper cuts of meat bones and offal as tesco only do (lamb) hearts not beef and i think quite dear for the amount you get ???

just feel were on a little bit of a limit as to what they can have due to our location tho im not into the whole sculls and willies lol but ribs wings legs hearts liver and kidneys are about as far as i can squeemishly go

about 2 years ago i couldnt even watch someone carve up a cooked chicken for a roast .... now when its cooled im peeling off all the meat sinew and detaching bone joints (dont feed cooked bones tho)

thanks again and well done a thourough link!!

Debs - there are many companies in the UK who supply raw food for dogs. I cannot recommend any as I am not in the UK, but if you put up a thread asking for raw food companies who deliver to your area, I am sure you will get lots of advice.

Good luck! xx
