Advocate

Hi there, The vet has recommended we use advocate for prevention of fleas and worms. She had her first dose a month ago... Instead of going to the vets every month i have found a vet online that supplies it.. which is great my only problem being is advocate does not cater for tapeworm... I do not know what worming treatment to use with advocate as i am weary of OD-ing poor Millie. Anyone else use advocate, if so which worming product do you use for tapeworm?

Ta.. Vicky

We use Stronghold for fleas and that also kills some worms but not tape worms. We use Drontal for worming Bruce and he has always been ok.
Obviously check with your vet before you decide. xx

Does it require a prescription? If it does, be aware that your vet can and may charge a prescription fee which may eat up any savings you make, plus they may insist on seeing your dog frequently to issue prescriptions. Also remember that often vets choose to make their profit in different areas of the business, e.g. cheaper consulations mean making up profit on things like flea treatment.
If it doesn't require a prescription then personally I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, lots of these online shops operate by illegally importing prescription medicine and some of the more dodgy ones actually use generic or even fake drugs.
Mine are wormed with Drontal alongside the Advocate (I use Advocate because it ensures my two are covered for lungworm)

On the website it does say you need a prescription (but you just answer questions about dog age etc)... Maybe i should ring the vet and ask... that way they cant scrape anymore money off me! hehe

Sorry, I meant does the site say it requires you providing them with a prescription on order - Advocate is definately POM so if the site doesn't require it I'd run a mile/
