The 7 Ages Of Dogs by Jan Fennell

I got this out of the library the other week when my son got out loads of Hamster books.

Anyway, I read the puppy bit with interest, especially the part about not feeding your pup at regular intervals as it shouldn't know when it's going to be fed and you should be in control of the food.
Sorry...what a lot of old tosh.
1) A young pup should be on 4 meals a day this it is impossible not to feed it regularly.
2) A young pup needs to be fed at regular intervals.
3) You remain in control of the food no matter what as you are the one that dishes it out and puts it down for them.
4) In order to help a pup become clean, it needs to be fed at regular intervals so it can get into a regular relief pattern.

Is it just me???

I agree with you, 4 meals a day spread over 16 hours means if they are not fed regularly sorting out excersise, toilet training etc would be too difficult. I'd agree don't be a slave to time Ie my pups were often fed their first meal later at a weekend than in the week to suit our routine, but some degree of timing & regularity is vital.
