Sexing cockatiels

Does anyone have any idea how to tell the difference between a male and female cockatiel? I've looked on websites, and still can't tell the difference

When my daughter got Lilly, we were told she was female. After going through cockatiel sites, and speaking to other bird fanciers, it seems that Lilly could on fact be a Lionel

Oh dear We may have given Lilly a bit of an identity crisis then

When we first got the bird, she/he didn't have his adult plumage (he was only 9 weeks old I think) so I guess the guy at PAH really couldn't tell He seemed quite confident that it was a girl though

Oh well, now to think of a boys name that sounds like Lilly

Im not sure about the yellow head thing but I am positive that Male have bright orange cheeks and females tend to have duller orange cheeks if they even have the marking. Either way Lilly is a boy

That's what got me thinking about whether SHE was in fact a HE.

Thanks for that link Stormey Our 'Lilly' does look like your Lou, although when Lilly was a youngster she/he looked like Leela
