Only supplement I give is Fish body oil/salmon oil.
Reason being, intensively farmed meats contain much less omega3s than their grass fed/free range counterparts. Same reason I take the salmon oil myself. If I could afford to feed us all on free range stuff I would; but needs must.

If the dog is healthy and the diet is balanced, there should be no need for any other supplements.

I supplement my dogs with

Salmon oil
Primrose Oil (vitamin E and C added)
a joint supplement called Re-Gen Max by Pet Tek http://www.pet-tek.ca/canine-products/re-gen-max
Kelp
parsley
Apple Cider Vinegar

I dont feed raw, well, not constantly, but I believe that supplements are needed whether commercial or raw.

Healthspan for everything bar Keepers Mix, that I get from Dorwest.

The reason I use Healthspan is because I use supplements myself

MSM
Glucosamine
Chondroitin
Green Lipped Mussel
Fish Body Oil
Vitamin E

despite having a healthy, balanced diet (most of the time) as I believe the above are useful chondroprotective agents for my joints.

It was just that I thought you fed Natural Instinct dog food?

I was under the impression that they include supplements in their products?

We add a number of nutrients to our foods to help ensure that your dog receives a completely balanced diet

Ie

Vitamin C
Kelp
Salmon Oil

But perhaps I am wrong?

thanks, is there a significant difference between human supplements and pet supplements; do you know if they are inter-changeable?

The significant difference is usually in price with those designed specifically for dogs being more expensive.

Also vets may only prescribe stuff that is LICENSED for veterinary use (so cannot prescribe stuff that is not) unless there is NO equivalent or in special circumstances.

I have not consumed canine supplements, but of course my dogs have been consuming human ones for many years.
