Leather help

If I shove a really old (30+ years) leather tracking harness in loads of rape seed oil will it help make it a bit supple? I don't want to use it except for fiddling a car harness for Jago for the filming. He has to be in the back of an open top car and they are helicoptering overhead----they don't want a pretty coloured one. In fact they didn't want one at all so I had to put both feet down hard!

I found it in my stash and it will fit him but needs suppling up and I don't want to spend loads.

I would clean it up with saddle soap, then work lots of neats foot oil into it

Try lots of saddle soap and leave it to soak in fully before doing it again.

Lots of people swear by Kochaline as well.

I didn't want the hassle of that----I just want a quick easy buck up for it.

Thanks anyway---I might have to give in.

Should do it, overnight.

The way I do it to preserve leather so I NEVER have to oil it again is to:

Soak in hot water for 24 hours
Drain
Then soak in Hydrophane for 24 hours

My tracking line is leather and has never had more than a wipe off in 12 years due to this initial treatment.

Thanks all---sorted with a friend doing it for me! I always did hate tack cleaning!

I'll do what SB does if I even use leather in future---sounds an excellend idea.
