If it works for a recall I tend not to say anything!
I have found in the last few days that using it for Ettas recall (properly) in the field seems to be working. First day she had the line and no reward cause I forgot them, second day line and reward, third day I managed to remember the clicker as well so she had all three and now she is back running naked and I have titbit box and clicker.

Apart from free running walks she is clickered for all training.

If you click and then the dog comes to you it isn't the way they were meant to be used---but if it works thats great,

You click when the dog gets to you if you use it in the way that is suggested. The click is a 'photo' of the action you want.

Does that make sense?

yup its fine if that is all they are using if for but if they are using it to capture behaviours too then it will be confusing for the dog
basically you are reinforcing what the dog was doing the instant you clicked, and often if you are calling them back its cos you want to distract them from what they were about to do, or you have no real idea what they are doing but you want them back anyway
you could be shaping some interesting behaviours

LOL---I seem to manage to reinforce some interesting behaviours using it properly ----possibilities are endless!
