Insurance company won't pay

Hello, sorry if posted in the wrong place, just looking for some advice/info. A month or so our dog was involved in a road accident, which resulted in the loss of her back leg, the vet asked for payment up front, £859, we don't have that kind of money, so they asked if she was insured, she was, so the vet took details of our policy and said they'd do the work no problem and claim directly from the insurance company, i paid the £100 excess. Our dog had lots of complications and the bill reached £2,150, she has been home now for 3 weeks, i received a letter from the insurance company this morning saying they will not pay the bill,
Help

Danielle xx

I am sorry to hear about your dog. Good on you for having the op done. Lots of dogs do well on 3 legs - we have at least one on the forum here.

You need to give more DETAIL about their refusal etc. to get any meaningful advice.

Good luck.

Insurance companies are IMHO along with banks - legalised crooks. They are given a licence to rob you. They don't need a mask or a swag bag.

I personally don't do insurance but from what I remember way back when I did, you need to at least get their approval for large amounts. The letter must have given a reason for declining payment. Must admit I'm mystified because amputation isn't something anyone would undertake unless absolutely necessary.

You need to check the type ( cover) of insurance you take taken out, to see why they have exculuded your claim .

Sorry to hear about your dog's accident, but glad to hear she is on the mend. What a worry that the insurance company have refused to pay your claim - did they say why?
Hope your dog continues to improve - its amazing how well they can manage on 3 legs.

Hi thanks for all your replies, my dog was playing in a secure, fully supervised garden with my fiance and 2 young children, Harley saw another dog by our front gates and jumped over the wall to investigate, my fiance tried to grab her collar and called her back, but she ran straight into the road and was hit by car . The insurance company said because she cleared a wall she isn't covered, xx
