A Little Bit of News (updated at post 43)

Some of you may know I have always loved Spaniels and always longed for a cocker or Springer but the time was never right or something cropped up or I just couldn't find one that wanted rescuing. (I won't go out and get a puppy off a breeder). I even tried advertising on here for a cocker a few months back.
Anyway every week for a couple of years I always look through the dog rescue forums and thats where I saw Chipp the lovely little Spaniel who I asked about on the post (what breed is this dog).
I felt a bit guilty as its so soon after losing Milo, but at the end of the day I am not getting him to replace Milo and would have enquired if he had been available a year ago. Nobody could replace my special little boy.
Anyway I emailed the rescue and Chipp is still with his owners so its been arranged that I go and visit them tomorrow lunch time.. I won't be bringing him home though as I need to pass a homecheck first which will be done if I like Chip and want to go further and then the lady from the rescue will get Chip, and her and I will arrange to take him and Shady for a walk to see if Shady will accept him. If that goes well then we will repeat it. Then the rescue will castrate him as he is still entire, then he can come here.
I am keeping an open mind as I believe if its mean't to be then it will be, if not it won't.
I spoke to his owners this morning and they sound lovely, so I will let you know how our first meeting goes tomorrow.

I always think of this poem when getting a new dog

A Glimpse Of The Rainbow Bridge
by Jean L. Mowry-Everett

Was it today; yesterday; a week; a month ago?
There are no days; there are no nights since my furchild died.
I reach to pet my furry friend who is no longer here.
My heart is broken; my arms are empty; how many tears I've cried.
I leave the house, into the lane we always walked together.
The rain is falling. I notice not. Just more tears on my face.
She used to lead me down the lane. Her spirit leads me still.
But we go a different way to a very strange and different place.
I stand before a rustic bridge I've never seen before.
I stop. I know I'm not to cross. But why, I want to know.
And then the rain suddenly stops. I look up into the clouds.
I look down. The bridge is gone and in its place is a rainbow.
I look across the Rainbow Bridge and see a joyful sight;
Thousands of healthy furchildren playing with my beloved pet.
I want to run and love her, but I'm rooted to the spot.
She looks and wags her tail and I hear her bark, "Not yet."
And then her bark turns to a voice and I hear her say,
"You cared for me, you played with me and loved me to the end.
I'm healthy now, don't cry for me. I'll meet you here again.
Others need your love and care. I'm sending you a friend."

I rub my eyes and the rainbow is again a rustic bridge.
I send a prayer for that quick glimpse to the loving God above.
I hear a noise and glance back down. I can't believe my eyes.
Across the bridge, my darling pet sent a furbaby for me to love.
I pick up the furry bundle, hold her close to my dampened cheek.
She nuzzles my neck, kisses my tears. It's true love at first sight.
Not to replace the one who's gone; another who needs my love and care.
My eyes are drawn upward to see a Rainbow Bridge in radiating light.

Joedee that is beautiful . I'm sobbing my heart out here now as I hope and pray my dear little Milo is running round wagging his tail and yapping his little head off having loads of fun now. I miss him so much and Shady or any new dog will never change that.
But if I can help another dog to find a happy loving forever home then my grief will be worth it.

Good luck with the meeting. I hope it is everything you dream it will be. I am sure Milo would be pleased you are going to give another dog a chance at the loving care he had with you. I don't think he'd want you to feel guilty at all. *hugs*

Good luck and good for you
You know you are not replacing Milo, but I am sure a new dog to settle in will help heal your heart

I hope so Pat, Last thing I would want to do is make Milo feel pushed out. I still hold the bed quilt up everynight when I get into bed, just in case he is there wanting his snuggle.

I wouldn't go and get a puppy from a breeder I only want dogs that need me and that I can help with the love I have to share.
