Ever seen a dog at a funeral..

Have you ever seen a dog at a funeral ?
Had a conversation with someone who has made it known to her family that she wants her dog to attend her funeral..

What on earth for!

Good heavens, someone else putting their own needs before those of the dog even after death!

Our good friend Nigel Holliday of Lionslord Leonbergers died almost a year ago after being taken ill at City of Birmingham Championship Show. At his funeral there were dozens of Leonbergers. Nigel and his wife Anita had also been great supporters of The Siberian Husky Welfare Association (UK) so as well as our Leonberger, Simi, we took one of the rescue sibes - Maya. It was a wonderful (if sad) day and the Leonberger guard of honour was exactly what Nigel would have wanted.

Yeah I cannot think why I have not actually taken my dog along to attend funerals in the past, a vital activity sadly overlooked by me.

It must be a wonderful atmosphere, all those positive vibes, all that grief and crying, I am crushed I have not thought of it before.............

What if the dog startes barking, howling etc?

Dear oh dear.......

I would not want any dogs at my funeral, I think it is macabre.

Fortunately as I do not plan on having one, the situation will not arise.

Still I suppose it is marginally better than those pet owners who request that their animals are PTS and their ashes put into their coffin!

Donating my body to science like my mother, no funeral, no costs and I am furthering scientific knowledge. Recycling at its best.
