it's the basic price your car is worth ...dealers only give the book price when part exchanged so they can sell it for a pofit.

They usually use parkers used car guide you'll find in WH Smiths and other good shops (sound like a add with putting that)
Or here is there web page

Hi Kazz it's the Parkers Book. It gives the dealers a guide price they should offer for a part exchange. We can use it to our advantage aswell if we go to by a car from a private seller, you can check to see if they are charging over the odds for the car

There are two types of book price.

"Parkers guide" is the sort used by your average car driver who wants to find out what they are worth when bought or sold privatley.

The other funnily enough is called "The black book" which is only available to car dealers and this shows thetrue price of a car to comercial traders. This book is updated monthly and shows how much the car should fetch on the forecourt and how much they are prepared to offer for trade-in/buy from you etc.

Hi I just asked my o/h who owns a garage and he uses the Glasses Guide, and if the person is a car dealer then he will have one of these. The Parkers Guide is for us retailers to use.
