(Weird) Question about females on heat

This may sound like a weird question, and I suppose it is.

I have been considering getting another NI in the future and am thinking about geting another female eventually.

Jess hasnt come into season yet, she is way to young.

Yet I am wondering about female dogs on heat...

In human females that live together and spend much time together it is a known oddity that thier periods will 'align' to start and finish within days of each other, for some reason.

Does this also happen with dogs at all?

I know it is a weird thing to think of, but I am known to have a ponderous mind... lol

Can't speak for every bitch of course, but mine did and most people I know who have more than one bitch say the same I think its more common than not.

Yes, I believe this can be quite common if you own more than one bitch.

I think is pretty normal with bitches to come in together.

Yes, they can come into season simultaneously. Mine usually overlap, coming in a few days apart, but I have had all four come in on the same day on one occasion.

Two of my girls come in season exactly the same day with every season they have had. First time at 11 months old, they then went another 11 months again both came in on the same day. Next time was 6 months from their last and again they both came in together.

But it's only these two it happens with, the rest of my girls just come in when they are due and not necessarily overlapping or even close to each other.

I've got 6 bitches, all various ages and, over the years they have tended to come into season after each other but quite closely. This year was really weird, my Pointer puppy came in at 9 months old, closely followed by my young English Setter who was around 14 months at the time, then my 4 year old came in too, there was a matter of days between them. In September my 3 year old English Setter came in and now my 4 year old Pointer has been in for approx 2 weeks.

Yes, its a well known fact,they will come in one after another.

yes this does happen, or sometimes they can actually prevent each other coming in at the same time!!! If there is a dominant female in the pack she will sometimes stop all the others coming in until she has had her season, then the rest are 'allowed' to come in - don't ask me how! It will be something to do with the alpha being allowed to mate with the male alpha and not giving anyone else a chance to have priority rights.
