Why the sudden moulting?

Hi all,

Over the past week ive noticed xena is really moulting quite bad. I rescued her mid october and she lost the odd hair as most dogs do but this past week its really coming out.

Ive been out and brought upmteen different brushes and just brought a rubber mitt which seems the best so far and im brushing her morning and night to ease it off the sofa a little lol but i was just wandering is this her losing her winter coat or something else

Molly is in the midst of a major moult too. I couldn't quite understand it as I thought it was a bit early too. She came into season on Saturday (only 3.5 months since her 1st season!), so maybe that's the reason behind her moult.

Jimmi is the same, I am brushing him with a mitt every day but still it coats the carpet/sofa/every available pair of legs etc.

A dog's system must be so confused when it is cold outside but toasty warm inside.

My gsd is moulting her undercoat a lot too at the moment. I keep telling her it's freezing but she doesn't listen. My lab just permanently molts.

My Northern Inuit is moulting a lot as well! He is the long haired type so there is hair everywhere! I use the furminator gently and seems to do the trick! Think he is too hot with the central heating on!

just keep an eye on it and if she starts getting bald patches it should get looked at, staffies when stressed etc can lose hair too and also are prone to skin conditions.

Did she come from kennel situation as she could just be moulting her coat now that she has a cosy space on your sofa... i mean her bed....
