the backlash has begun

As we bull breed owners expected due to the latest news reports, have already experienced the dog racism !!!

Was in the bank today with bruno on his lead, filling in a pay in slip, Bruno was standing beside me watching the doors open and close minding his own business.

In walks 2 kids - a wee girl and wee boy about 6 & 7, they both exclaimed - oh look at the doggy - and made to come over and pat Bruno only to be almost rugby tackled by the mother who shouted for the whole bank to hear " dont you ever approach one of THOSE dogs do you hear me ?!"

Both kids almost started to cry and poor wee bruno sat there waiting for his pat??

I just glared at her and then said - he loves kids and its a shame that you dont realise what fantastic dogs they are, posted my pay in envelope and walked out of the bank with ma wee man !

so sad that its come to this

It's such a shame because those kids are going to grow up with the same attitude

I would be more than happy to cuddle Bruno too

awww-poor Bruno and you Dani for witnessing such a sorry attitude! Im sorry, but you just cant educate some people Dani cause they will always see certain breeds or types as dangerous no matter how you fight your corner. Nowadays,if someone does have the balls to say something negative to me about my chosen breed-it dont wind me up cause lifes too short for trading insults.I just smile and blow em' a kiss cause this really winds them up!!!

Occasionally i get the familiar 'glare' from people when i walk past the primary school with Vegas (i cant help it-its round the corner so hard to avoid),but was 10 times worse with Abe.They never ever said anything, but i think i would have gotten off better if i'd been holding an AK47...

This is the sort of thing I get all the time! It drives me to insanity! I would love the opportunity to give bruno a big hug, and I cant see why anyone else would think differently. There are lots of narrow minded numpties out there but we staffy owners know they are the most loving loyal dogs ever, who could resist that staffy smile!
If these stupid people took 2 minutes to get to know the dog they would realise what they have been missing.
Im sorry you had to go through this Dani, Greg sends you and bruno a big staffy kiss :smt058 :smt058 :smt058

ps. Your bank lets you take your dog in ???

Hi Brundog,

It's a pity that you didn't think to say (really loudly) something like, "I'm glad you said that, as no-one should approach any breed of dog without asking, as you don't usually have bad dogs, you just have bad owners and ignorant people"

That would have possibly made her feel small.

I said it once and it worked and it wasn't really anything to do with me, as it wasn't either of my dogs.

I was just coming out of a local shop and a woman that I used to "pass the time of day with" when we met walking the dogs, was passing with her staffy, which is as daft as a brush.

There were quite a few people around and a little girl and her Mum were going by and, same as in your case, the kid went to stroke Jack and the Mum said something like "stop that, it'll bite you, those dogs always do".

I couldn't believe my ears, Jack's owner looked horrified (and I'm sure she was near to tears, hearing that about her beloved pet) and she went bright red, so me being me, trotted that sentance out really loudly, much to our astonishment, the woman mumbled an apology and pi--ed off !

Did the trick though.

oh dear thats so sad

we had another report on the local news about a boy who'd been attacked by an American Bull Dog, which they call a 'pit bull', as much as these attacks are horrific i wish the media would stop getting it wrong as this is whats causing all the hysteria.

i dont think just the bull breeds will be affected either as i've heard some people wanting ALL dogs banned

something quick needs to be done to stop the hysteria, but what i dont know.

please ignore the ignorant and lets hope it'll be a 9 day wonder.

Just come back from dog training and there is a beautiful young rottie, he is massive, he also has a very waggy long tail!!!
I was asking her if she had experienced any bad comments since the happenings of the other day and she was nearly in tears about what had been said to her.
Now this woman's daughter was with her, the dog is probably bigger than the child actually, and she was holding his lead and everything and the dog was just wonderful with her. It makes me so sad to think the damage some people have done by just not socialising their dogs enough and not being careful with their baby.
All in all a very sad heartbreaking situation.

some people just don't want to learn or give anything a chance they think they are always right.
as you know i have never owned a staffy but i have never met a bad en yet your'll have to bring him here my kids will give him all the pats he could stand.

poor kids being scared in such a manner and wots worse by their own mum.
