Hi Chickens can give a nasty peck, one chicken I remember you had to be careful not to let her see you pickup any eggs, she would chase you wings out and trying to peck whatever she could get near.crystalgirl

Picked ours up tonight and they are now 'in residence' - no flag flying or anything like that LOL

The 4 we got are in good nick. Better than the last batch the the rescue lady had. I certainly couldn't see much in the way of missing feathers or signs of 'heavy pecking'.

I'll take some piccies over the next day or so.

The dogs are 'interested' but not overly so.

Ermmmm, this is going to seem very ignorant, naive and silly
If you keep chickens do you have to have a cockerel as well in order to get eggs??

It's not silly a lot of people don't know.

No you don't need a cockerel to get eggs just fertilised ones.

My girls are currently happily laying 1 a day each! I'm over run with eggs...

P.S Lovely looking chooks, lucky lucky girls

Thanks Jen. My neighbour is getting chickens, so now I know I am unlikely to be woken by cockerels crowing
