Totally agree with you all. Sadly a lot of people seem to think dogs should 'take' any amount of fussing however close the people want. You can clearly see the dog using it's best methods of asking the woman to stop, the handlers should have stepped in too.
I've only see the clip there, I have no idea what the interview was originally about.

This is why you don't put your face into a dog you don't know - or even a dog you do know in some cases. Unfortunate he got her on the lip.

If you look at his paws at the end they are in a defensive position i.e. moving something away.

Things I believe were wrong or added to him being frightened:
  • Put in an unsual setting with bright lights and big 'dark' cameras, and lots of unknown people 'circling' around him and all sorts of other intimidating stuff
  • His owner strangling him with that collar (see how tight it is?)
  • His owner not concentrating on what matters - making the dog feel comfortable (I would have been totally different, I would have been constantly reassuring the dog and the interview would have been 'secondary')
  • I think the final straw was (her, and) her glasses being so in his face, with all the bright lights and his own reflection up so close he might have thought it was another dog going for him.

Dogs are not used to all these 'crazy' things going on in a set - if you're going to take your dog for an interview socialise them and get them used to the setting first!

If some stranger touched my head like that and stuck their face in mine I might bite them

Poor dog, he was giving off plenty of signals that he was unhappy with the situation, sadly all ignored, add to that the stress of being in a strange setting like a tv studio...........
The outcome...... well my guess is that of course the dog will suffer, and the breed with it....... again for human ignorance

It will be some time before that woman 'gets in the face' of a big dog she doesn't know well!

Dog wasn't even overly aggressive towards her given the circumstances and the setting and the fact its owner seemed not to be paying attention to it either.

Serves her right ... ooops! Did I say that?

Statistically I think that sort of behaviour is more likely to get you nailed by a small terrier...

Found this article about it - seems Max will be back with his owners soon.

What a silly woman. I agree with what others have said about the warning signs, was I not surprised that the news anchor at the beginning of the clip said 'I just adore dogs' - very often the thing people say when they love dogs but have no clue whatsoever how to act around them!

In fairness to the interviewer, she was clearly a dog lover and was obviously trying her best to show dogs/the breed in a positive light - I guess in hindsight she might reflect and think that perhaps she could have evaluated the situation a little better.
