"Did you fancy a cool off? sir?"

...Was the comment made by an old chap walking a dead looking collie cross, as I dragged myself and bike out of river.
1 coventry male (me) cycling the footpaths of the fields we walk + one made english springer spaniel (Ralph) who was bursting to do his spaniel thing in the river+ one dottering terrier who was just happy to be able to sniff other dogs poo+previously mentioned ESS going to go into the river but being given the WAIT command as we were near the part where theres the walk down bit in the other fields where the farmer has cows and they were drinking=one ESS headbut small stupid terrier as she charged happily after a rabbit into the way of my bike so I veered off the footpath and into the water, said demonic ESS then bounds in splashing as much as possible with an expression that read "Well its not fair if you told me I can't go in but YOU do anyway".
And as it was near where the cows in the opposing field drink from the walked down part of the bank was also full of dung and god knows what else, so the water in this particular spot smelt fabulous.

Sometimes I wish I would of stuck to dottering and slightly dense terriers ....

Oh dear... Well, at least you probably did cool off!!

I dislike his liver and whiteness an awful lot right now, he's living in a pit of shame on the decking at the bottom of the garden..well no he's snoozing in the last of the sun and probably quite happy, but I have to console myself somehow!
