ACP warning for boxers (Acepromazine dangerous for Boxers)

This subject came up a few days ago and I wanted to tell everyone about it http://iupucbio2.iupui.edu/bml/acewarning.html (if you did not already know)
One vet I asked about it didnt know, another said she did not use it for boxers or bull breeds. That's the one I now go to!
I'd be interested in your veiws.

I'll try to get it again. Acp is really bad. It's used in the anistetic and can kill. It only seems to have that affect on bull breeds but more comonly boxers. Give me a mo.

Surely that should be a warning to all dog owners not just boxers.

Sorry should have added is it used as a pre med, used to be used as a tranquilliser but that was stopped I thought when it was found that some dogs became aggressive.

All sedatives are more dangerous to dogs than anaesthetics and they can't be reversed.

Do you not think that "all" vets should be aware of it? The first one I asked didn't know. I would have thought so annestaff. Yes it is still being used

That worries me ... a lot! I worked for a vet here in SA. Our vet gave it to many many people (obviously only if he had seen the animal in the last 6 months. I keep some at home to calm my dog if there are fireworks going off. I only give him half the recommended dosage, and he just sleeps. I know they will not give it to dogs that have heart problems. Should I find an alternative?
