Jasper's first visit

Well, this afternoon Jasper goes for his first PAT visit to our local schools Special Needs Unit :smt026

It was meant to be my daughter's sports day but typical british summer....it's rained off
The SNCO was on yard duty so I spoke to her and she said that as sports day has been rained off I can take him up this afternoon at 1:30. She wanted him to go for school assembly but I think that would be a bit much.

I am going to take my camera to take some photos so will post tham later and let you know how we get on (if my nerves can take the strain)

Nerves lasted about 10 minutes. The teacher's weren't sure how to react to Jasper because he's a staffy but when they saw how good he was with the kids they were very impressed.

We really enjoyed it and can't wait for our next visit which probably won't be till Septrember now

The children were brilliant. One girl is both mentaly & physically disabled and for about 1/2 hour wouldn't touch him but then she decided that she wanted to pat him and walk him around the classroom like all the others did. They all gave him a treat, which of course he really enjoyed. We even got the children laughing at their teachers because we made them take him for a walk around the classroom too.

There was one boy who apparently never smiles, he just scowls, but he even gave Jas a pat and a walk around the classroom and said thank you to me for letting Jasper come and visit. It was really enjoyable and can't wait for more visits. It was so rewarding and this was only our first visit.

Unfortunately no piccies as the batteries weren't working in my camera.

I am so glad everything turned out well for you. That was so touching about the little boy that never smiles.
