Marymass Dog Show

I am sorry but I have just heard from one of the Committe member that this year's Marymass Dog due to be held this Wednesday 20 August has had to be cancelled as the Council Workers are on strike. This is a show which has been held annually for many many years and all monies from this go to various local charieits. It is really a shame as last year's w show as not well attended due to the people responsible for producing the Marymass Programme Booklet having ommitted it from the booklet, so once again the local charieits will be missing out.

I have attended this very popular fund raising show for many years formerly as an exhibitor and lattelry as a spectator and it will be missed this year as it is always a lovely night out.

What a shame and how sad for them to have such bad luck two years in a row.

Fingers crossed that next year will be extra special for them.

I hope so Fona as this is part of the annual Marymass Celebrations which commemorate the visit of |Mary Queen of Scots and her Mary's to Seagate Caste (now a ruin) in Irvine and it culminates on the Saturday with the Crowning of the Marymass Queen and her Mary's. and a large parade to the Irine Moore where there is horseracing and side shows.

It is a big thing in the Irine Calendar/

Just bumping this up so that anyone intending coming sees it and does not turn up at the door on Wednesday evening at the Volunteer Rooms only to find the hall closed.
