Why is my bitch humping me?

She does it leading up to season and whilst in season, just wondering why she does it, is she trying to make puppies with me?

Very young female dogs do this when over excited... but i think it`s a dominance thing in older bitches. We have three older girls in the family.. between 1 and 3 years old and they take it in turns with each other.. girl on girl, girl on boy.. they`re not fussy.

One bitch is a lot worse than the others.. she is far more dominant than the others too. She .. incidently was the only one who had a second season before speying.. the other two were done after their first season. The constant humping got so bad.. she had to have her done in the end.. it was causing a lot of friction. The situation is improving slowly.

Am I right in thinking you ahve just brought a new puppy into the house??

It may be linked to that... Showing her dominance to the pup

Much as I am sure Zuki lurves you it is usually a dominance thing they hump to show they are dominant in the pack .. Baku's arrival may have prompted any recent behaviour.. outside of that I would say it is an instinctive behaviour to get the "approval" of the pack leader

Sometimes I think they just do it cos it feels good

This is a perfectly natural behaviour in both dogs and bitches.

Just distract/discourage her. Make no big deal of it.

When our female lab was less than 1 yrs old, she did the same thing to the male lab. not to humans though.

I thought it was probably because he did the same thing (but was neutered as he was a 'rescue').

She did stop, but the boy carries on while she just sits and ignores him.

I thought it odd at the time, but on reflection it wasn't really a big deal for the two of them.
