So sorry to hear about Poppy
As a owner of two sbt i hope Poppy and you are ok.
I just wish more owners of sbt would relise that no matter how much socialising, training you do that sbt are known for dog on dog aggression,so as a responsible owner we must always be aware of the history of our breed and have our dogs under control. No matter if they have a 100 doggy friends and never had any issues, its always there lurking and unfortunally its owners that seem to be neglectful. Also just want to add that my two have never attacked another dog,but have on three occassions been attacked and circled by dogs when we have had them on the lead by other dogs.
Best wishes and hugs too you both.xx

What a great post there!!! I think you've hit that spot on there! As much as I love these dogs, have friends who own them, I am always very aware myself of exactly what you have pointed out in your post! Good on you for doing that, because I've actually seen it myself with this particular rescued one that I mentioned in my earlier post!

Thanks for that tracie
You make so much sense, and I must say, it has made me a little more wary of the breed. I have always been a bit wary, but they have, until now been fine. It is just that this has happend twice now in a month or so, two different staffs attacking two different breeds. First one was a little Maltese and now Poppy.
I'm sure she will get over it, at this moment in time she is jumping all over Ben, my other BCX

Thank you for your lovely comment
Ive been raised with sbt and their the only breed ive owned.
But i know whats on the end of my lead, like it or not we have to respect where our dogs came from and if people cant do that they shouldnt own a sbt.My two are 23 and 21 months and when pups yes they had plenty of doggie friends, but as they have got older we stopped the mixing as they are happy with us and each other to interact with. Its my responsibility as a owner to be responsible and realistic when it comes to my dogs and other peoples dogs.just wont take the risk of my beloved dogs hurting somebody elses beloved dog.

Brilliant post, I totally agree. When I had my SBTs I was always very aware of the damage they were capable of.

I hope Poppy is ok Elaine xxx

Excellent post, pity a lot more owners of these dogs aren't educated to be as responsible as yourself. It's no good people keep saying deed not breed, we need to face reality.

but we can certainly be aware of dog on dog aggression being a factor in their history, however everyone knows their own dog, so does that mean that if you own a staffie you shouldnt ever let it offlead or socialise it with other dogs?
What about the staffie PAT dogs etc?? I just wonder where you draw the line at responsible breed ownership?

I do own a dog aggressive staffie so know what he is capable of - however I know many lovely staffies who are wonderful with other dogs, MIssy on here being one of them, who is my dogs stooge dog and he gets on great with her.

I just wonder where one should draw the line in recognising your dogs history???

I think alot of the breeding in staffies isnt great and dogs who are dog aggressive are bred when I believe they shouldnt be etc, and the BYB and puppy farms that churn them out dont help. But really are you guys saying that you shouldnt own a staffie and let it offlead or socialise with other dogs JUST IN CASE???

just curious?
