Oh Jenny I'm so sorry, we all know that if she's not eating it's serious, but I do truly hope and pray that something can be done, it seems to have come on so quickly, the one and only time Ria (our dear Lab of many years ago) snapped and growled at me was when she was bitten by a snake and had the poison in her body.

She went for her walk and when she went to get back in the car she slipped and fell.
Jen I am wondering if Mo did actually slip and fall or if she had some kind of episode followed by the collapse. I have seen this kind of thing happen before and looking back afterwards I could not recall for sure what actually happened ....

I now think all this with her neck has made us blinkered to something else that is going on.

She has had an injection of antibiotics and steroids (vet said we had to take the chance despite her heart).
It now looks like it could be something cerebral.
Her entire personality has changed. She won't even come into the same room as us (she is having probs walking anyway). If we go near her she snaps and snarls.
She has bitten hubby 3 times now and now he is getting frightened of getting near her.
She hasn't eaten, drank or wee'd for over 24 hrs.

My tears won't let me write anymore.
... this is such a sad situation sending warm wishes for an improvement in Mo's condition and hugs to you all..xx

I can't believe what I'm reading here, you must be in such a state Jen, both of you, seeing your darling Mo like this, I honestly don't know what to say to offer you some comfort Jen.xxxxxx

Remember I said about the arthritis in my neck, and how two of the discs are touching that spinal chord?? When it first happened because I "ricked" my neck onn the horse, I KNEW it was cerebral, but having spent a week in hospital they sent me home with a diagnosis of vertigo, and yet I still couldn't stand up or walk, I was all over the place, head spinning, didn't know which way was up, felt violently sick, wobbled when I stood up and almost fell over each time. I'm wondering whether this can happen in dogs, do they have spinal chords like we do?? What about an MRI like I had done in my neck just to check it out? If it is something like that, then the good news is, I did recover and so will Mo, but it will take time, and then you'll have to be ultra careful with her neck all of the time, maybe she can even wear something on her neck to help her get through it, if it IS the problem here?

The problem with something like this is, or so the specialist told me last year, when it initially happens, it's major trauma, but over time, the chord is quite happy to let it sit there, UNLESS, you do something daft and set it off again. He likened it to poking his finger on my arm, and when he did it forcefully, yes it hurt, but when he did it very gently and then slowly pushed in (like you would get with arthritis occurring), then it can live with it.

Oh dear Jen, you must be in total shreds, just leave her be, quiet in another room with plenty of water and food set down somewhere for her to get to if she wants it. She's scared, she doesn't know what's happening, and she wants to warn you off, that's all it is, she hasn't turned aggressive towards you, it's her only way of telling you isn't it, poor little love. I'm sure once you leave her alone, with the door open, she'll understand you've got the message and she will come to you when she feels up to it, but don't expect miracles, if she's got what I had in her neck, then she'll feel very disorientated, wobbly, sick, all that with the ceiling whizzing roundd at 90 mph toboot!

Sending everything I've got now that she pulls through this Jen, and lots of love and hugs from all of us here.xxxxx
