A Jay in my garden this morning

We've got a pair of these jays, they're often up in the trees, but never on the lawn, so I quickly got the camera out, but it saw me through the kitchen window and flew off, but I caught it! Quite stunning birds, and quite big, and Dave says you're lucky to see one in a lifetime, and here I am in this new house with 2 visiting the garden regularly.

I first noticed them when I viewed the house, as they were sitting in the big fir tree on the front lawn, but I had never seen birds like this before, and couldn't find them on the internet, but when we moved here, Dave knew what they were. Pretty aren't they, but they're actually devils in disguise

Look in the top right hand corner, and hopefully you will see it in flight, can't do much more with the pic sorry!

Oddly enough I saw on the other morning, the first I've seen since moving here last year.

When we lived in Cornwall we had a pair that frequented our garden, they are stunningly beautiful birds

My mum and dad live next to woods and they have jays in the garden all the time, feeding from the bird feeders. The feeders are about 6 foot away from the kitchen window and their beautiful colours can be seen while they quite happily feed for a few mins in front of the window.

We have woods and a river near us, and I was down there on Sunday morning and saw two fliting in and out of the trees on the river bank. I seen them a few times but never two together.

We first noticed these in a particular area in the woods, always two together, and I'm just wondering whether in fact these are the very same two jays. The woodland is ancient, it's a nature reserve now, and is only 140 acres in all, so it could well be, considering these are quite rare, that these are the same as the pair we see each morning.

I've never lived next to woodland before, we lived on downland and I have to say, I'd never even heard of them before, let alone seen them.
