Puppy farm ?

My friend has recently purchased a 10 week old female border collie called daisy and the place she bought her from was breeding labradors huskies border collies and jack russels and they were all kept in pens in a barn. she said the floor was quite clean and they were kept on hay however a few days after geting daisy home she noticed blood in her poo and at closer inspection she found a worm which she beleived to be a tape worm anyway to cut a long story short she ahs been to the vets and the vet prescribed antbiotics and a de-wormer and said come back on monday (today) she at first thought it was parvo but the vet cant confirm anything until she goes back today i was wondering if anybody has heard of these syptoms before and if this place sounds like a puppy farm ? thanks

I do not have any experience of Parvo but in answer to your last question - YES that definitely sounds like a puppy farm to me.

Sounds like a puppy farm to me too. I have had two past dogs who contracted parvo. They were very very ill and I nearly lost one of them. Really bloody fowl (i know poo smells but a dog with pavo, its a smell you will never forget) smelling diarrhea is one of the first signs. it does sound more likely to be worms than Parvo, but only a vet can tell you this.

Too true, my rottie had a 'parvo type illness' when he was 11 months despite being vaccinated and it is a smell you never, ever forget.....

Sounds like a puppy farm/mill to me. My Brownie got parvo when he was 2 months old and he had bloody horrible smelling diarrhea and he also vomited up blood. He was lucky to live, parvo has a really high mortality rate in puppies so if it's parvo, you want to get her help as quickly as possible. He had no worms however.

I'm shocked that seeing loads of different dog breeds kept in small pens doesn't ring alarm bells in puppy buyers heads? I don't think there is much of an excuse when information is so easily accessible now. Poor dogs.
