Can anyone help me find a staffie pup?

Hi, I am new here and looking for any help and advice you are willing to give me.

We are currently looking for our first Staffie. My hubby has always wanted a Staffie, I just wanted a dog. We have always had dogs as children but when we set up home together we both worked full time then the three children came along so we decided until the kids were older and someone was at home for at least most of the time we would have cats. I couldnt imagine a house without animals.

Jerry our 14 year old cat died at the start of Feb this year, I am lucky enough to be able to stay at home now as my hubby is in a better paid job and the children are a little older (13, 6 and 2) I feel now it is time for *our* newest family member to join us. Our house is just so empty at the moment!!

We have read all the books and have been told by a few people to avoid pet shops, newspapers etc for a pup so we have decided to go the breeder root, only that doesnt seem so easy. We contact someone last night who had a littler but alarm bells rang when he said they were ready to go at 6 weeks, I thought it was 7/8?

Would anyone like to take me under their wing and help me find our pup? Money isnt a problem, we have contacted people selling for between £350/£500, so we know what we are expected to pay.

Sorry to have put my life history down, just thought it better to let you know the reasons why we are so desperate to extend our family.

Colour isnt a big issue with us, my hubby does however like red, I like black and white but it really is more about the temperament. We live in Lancashire and would prefer not to have to travel too far for our pup.

As I said before any advice or help would be VERY welcome.

Thanks very much

There are a lot of staffie breeder who let them go at 6 weeks, I got one of mine at that age,she was hard work..My other one was 8 weeks much easier..You would be better going to a breeder, and see the mum..I have had staffs for 20 years they are great little dogs. Can't help you find one, I am too far away, Good luck in your search.Let me know how it goes...

HI

Have you considered a rescue staffie - they come in all the time all over - and there are always many looking for homes. We got ours at 1 1/2 and he is a handful but I love him to bits and its like he has always been here.

are a few sites for rescues - and if you try dogpages.co. then this will show any in your area. We started with the puppy idea but havent looked back since getting Bruno !!
