Best way to crack a marrowbone?

Cain has thoroughly enjoyed his first marrowbone (sawn in half, two pieces). It's been in and out of the freezer numerous times. He's now stripped it bare and is beginning to lose interest. He's enjoyed the bit of marrow that he could get but there's loads more inside that he can't reach. I thunk the bones are at the end but before I bin them I'd like to crack it open and let him enjoy the last of the marrow. Stupid question but how best to do it?? I don't have a meat cleaver.

Dunno, my dogs do it themselves, but you could scoop it out with a cafe latte spoon if you have one?

Use a skewer or similar.

I tend to leave them around for a while and they spend a bit of time working on them.

I'm a pampered London, we don't have axes..... I can imagine the look on the neighbours faces if I stood in the garden wielding and axe to chop up bones! Bet it does the job though

Might have to try a hammer.

Note, please wear safety glasses when you do this, hammer or axe.

A bone splinter in your eye is not something you want to remember this episode with.

That's true!

It was like an elephants graveyard out here, as we had to have a few of our Highland cattle shot (don't ask ) and the dogs got some HUGE bones to chomp on. I did fancy giving them a head or two, but thought the kids might have had nightmares
