First his legs, now it's his eyes! Poor baby!

Took Woody back to the vets today as have noticed his eyes still look odd.

Apparently the vet is concerned as they appear quite cloudy. We have to give him drops (uh oh, here we go again) and take him back for more tests next Monday. If they are still bad she wants to refer him to a specialist.

She put some dye in his eyes so my poor baby looks very sorry for himself with orange eyes and green nostrils! He also has it on his scruff and all over me, the little wriggler that he is.

Oh and she agreed that he is utterly insane when it comes to eye drops and was not surprised that we struggled so much. Has even suggested one on one with a behaviourist about it ASAP as he is quite bad. Any suggestions/recommendations?

Me too. I just want the little guy to be well and live a long, happy life!

you know what, I bet he'll be fine. It's just abit of left over infection I'm sure.

I hope.

He's sure to be fine. Remember we too can have a recurring infection and just need some more medicine.

Can I ask Pidge what his first symptom was? At the risk of sounding a bit dumb, Ruby's eyes have been a bit red these last few days. They're not causing her any problems but I'm a first time dog owner and don't want to miss anything that staring me in the face!

Awww, poor Woody Wood Bless him!

I, like you, feel that it is nothing too serious. I'm sure he'll be fine!

As for the problem with administering eye-drops, I have never met a dog (or kid come to that) that doesn't make an awful fuss over eye-drops. I can't see that consulting a behaviourist over that problem would be beneficial. After all, how often do you need to give a dog drops - not that often, I'm sure. Unless, of course, he has other behavioural issues but, as far as I'm aware, he's just a normal puppy, full of life and mischief, exactly how he should be. Try not to worry about him. Something tells me Woody is gonna be just fine in every way

Oh dear, I had the saga of putting eye drops in my staff when I had him, he had an ulcer in his eye, that was very hard work! in the end, I used to pin his head between my knees and place a treat on the floor infront of me. I would give him a treat for each eye, presuming that he stayed pinned in my knees that is!

I agree with CC, a very good post.
I would wiggle too if someone was holding me down and putting stuff in my eyes!
A behaviourist Does he have any other issues?

sorry poor woodys having problems just now hope hes better soon xxx

Dito with this,

what could be a good idea though is, clicker training woody, {not sure if you have already worked with a clicker, but if not I would introduce one, they are not only there to train behaviours wanted they can be a massive help with getting rid of unwanted behaviour,.

just starting with putting your hand near his eye click treat. then poss work up to a dropper in your hand and so on and so forth,.

Im sure someone on the forum put a link up a while ago, showing a dog with massive fear of having nails clipped being worked on with a clicker...

Thanks guys. I guess I'm just feeling abit sorry for my little man lately.

Ruby, it started with red eyes and lots of googey so we gave him drops (as long as possible) but yesterday I noticed they looked odd, not as shiny as usual, more closed and pink.

As for the snapping he really does get quite aggressive Fran. He's not just saying "oi, get off", he's saying "right, I'm gunna get you for that" and bites. He bit the vet!! It is very OTT. Not sure now what to do about it. She thinks it would be good to fix it ASAP as he's a spaniel and they do tend to have eye things alot and we don't want him doing this when he's fully grown.

Id be very concerned with an aggressive puppy at that age, I agree with the Vet it is serious. I would strongly consider the behaviourist, before it becomes totally out of hand.

I hope he gets better soon.
