both mine have chips ,I wouldnt want a tattoo as it would be able to be seen and take away the natural beauty from the dog and I would be worried about the pain when done ,when I'm out with them away from the local country areas I make sure they have their collars and identichip tags on (I havent got an address tag),but if I'm at all worried I keep them on lead anyway

Kali and Snorri are tagged, enough for here, really. My vet offers a chipping service, but nobody in Orkney has a chip reader, as far as I know. I might get them chipped for next time I take them off-island, though.

All mine are microchipped, have tags (one that says I'm microchipped, another ith my tel number), and they are database registered (its the law here, the license is 100 CHF and the dog is given its annual number on a new Tag. all anyone needs to do is type in the number and Voila!! Name/Breed/adreess/and telephone number) .

I'd pass on tattoos, in my experience they can start to fade or smudge with age. And they aren't attractive
