Jayne ~ A Little Bubbly Delight - 5yo Black Greyhound

JAYNE

**UPDATED: MAY 2013**

Location: Kennels in Norfolk, UK. Jayne would love a foster home while she waits for her forever home.
Key Points: A total delight, bubbly, friendly, social, full of beans, great with other dogs, walks well on lead, good traveller, not yet in a home, fabulous lady.

This little girlie is Jayne, a 5 year old ex-racing greyhound girl who was rescued from an Irish pound. Jayne is a petite little black lady who is starting to get a healthy shine to her coat now that all her stresses are behind her. She has some silvering on her face that we think gives her a certain distinguished character.

~ Personality ~
Generally: Happy little girlie, friendly, loving, bubbly, well adjusted.
Though Jayne has a greying face that makes her appear older, don’t let this fool you! Jayne is a total poppet and is full of bubbly beans. She’s incredibly friendly and affectionate with everyone and has a real zest for life. She is definitely living in the moment and at the moment she is very happy! She loves everyone and everything and always has a big smile on her face – 2 minutes with this little lady and we guarantee you will have a big smile too.

~ In the Home ~
Generally: Not yet experienced a home.
Jayne has not been in a home environment before, so new owners will need to be a bit patient during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle in and learn the home rules. It generally takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience. This little hound is going to love the home life so very much. She won't believe her luck when she finds herself surrounded by warm cuddles, yummy food and soft sofas, we can't wait to see her with her new family.

~ Other Animals ~
Generally: Great with the other dogs she has met, not fully small dog tested, not cat safe.
Jayne has been excellent with the other dogs she has met so far. She is very happy to meet everyone and she spreads her happiness, putting more nervous dogs at ease with her bubbly nature. She loves to frolic and play and we hope she gets to leran about doggie toys very soon. Jayne has not been fully testd with small dogs to ensure that she knows they are indeed dogs, but we will do this test very soon. It is expected though that she is small dog friendly. Jayne is not suitable to live with cats.

~ Out and About ~
Generally: Walks to heel, bouncy, moderately active, very friendly and social.
Jayne walks well on the lead and is happy to trot along beside you, taking in the wonderful scenery. She is friendly and adjusted and good in busy areas as well as the open countryside. She is also a very good traveller and settles nicely in the car. Jayne is moderately active and so would benefit from 2 walks a day with some offlead zoomies a couple of times a week so she can stretch her legs. Please note that she will need some recall work before she can be let offlead in areas away from public roads or livestock.

~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly.

~ Where Am I? ~
Jayne is currently being kennelled in Norfolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a homechecker available, but please note that you will be required to travel to us in Norfolk to meet her.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Jayne is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This girl would greatly benefit from being in a foster home, and Kerry Greyhounds UK is always in desperate need of new fosterers. It is such a rewarding experience, and costs are covered by the rescue.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering Jayne, you can contact me (Tam) via email: tam@kerrygreyhounds.co.uk, or speak directly to Bronwen by phoning: 075 000 62648. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs.

There are application forms for both adopting and fostering a Kerry Greyhound, and we will ask you to fill the relevant one in as the first step in the adoption/fostering process. To speed up this process, we recommend you do this before emailing/calling. You can find the forms, as well as further information on our homing & fostering procedures, on either the Adoption Page: or Fostering Page: .

Thank you.

~~ KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a voluntary organisation based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spread over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK. If interested in one of our hounds, please feel free to contact us.
