Dew Claws

Hi everyone
I was just wondering what people's views on Dew Claws are
Both my dogs have them ,I think its prob best to leave them unless there is a danger of them getting injured ,rather than put the dog in stress at the vets for a cosmetic op
But with my pup being a breed rather than just a mongrel would people expect her to have them off?
When I had Benji into the vets to get neutered the nurse asked if I would like to get his dew claws off at the same time ,I thought it best to just leave them as they are (he was going to be sore as it was without even more done to him I thought)
My mum's dog (who is no longer with us ),but when she was a young dog had to have one of her Dew Claws removed because it got cut on glass while she was out for a walk ,so I guess they can be at risk from stuff like that
I just wondered what other opinions there are on them

I have my pups dew claws removed around 3 days old, if it's done any later then it will be more expensive as it will be a full operation.

We have cockers and they do tend to be quite happy, jumpy dogs and would probably catch their dew claws if we didn't remove them

None of mine have had their removed...although Kingsley did catch one of his earlier this year, and it fell off, and was a bit sore. So I just cleaned it for him, and he was fine!

Tamino and Penny had their dew claws removed at 3 days, and Lucy still has hers. But I think its always better to remove them while they are small puppies, as you never know what type of claw it will turn into.

Yes Sally you'rs are good. Dut a friend of mine has a GSD who still has his, and it is always being ripped off. And it grows so fast it digs into his pad if its not cut every week.
