Oh Staffy I feel like crying for both of you. :smt022
It must be real hard for you, but it must be terrible for poor Jasper as he doesn't understand.
It's hard to come up with suggestions. You'll just have to try and make his mind as active as possible, so he hasn't got time to miss her.
Have you got any family that have a dog that he's friends with. Maybe they could spend a lot more time together. Then when you feel ready, perhaps getting him a new buddy will be the solution.
I'm sure you can talk hubby round.

Mitch.

Hi Staffy,

I'm so sorry for your loss

We've got 2, and Len had to be at the vets for 3 months (although he came home at weekends but had to sleep in our room as he was poorly). Him and Winnie had always slept together prior to this, so when he was away at first, she was terrible. She spent most of her time looking for him or following us like a little shadow.
She cried at night, so we kept in in the lounge with us until she was dropping off, then took her to her bed and cuddled her until she fell asleep. It took a few weeks, but eventually she would settle on her own at night. We just tried to make sure she got lots of cuddles from us as well, but I'm sure that goes without saying.

I don't think they ever really get used to not being together though because if we ever separate them, they still cry.

Helen

I've even said hubby can choose the breed but I gotta wait till the New Year

Maybe if Paul see's how sad Jasper is and he's not improving then hopefully he'll change his mind and we can get one sooner.

Will let u know how we go with the toy tonight.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

But to be honest, the only way he will stop all the barking and crying is to get another dog, its probably what you don't need right now... but for the dogs health and happiness it might be what he needs right now.
