From 'crate training' to 'kitchen training'

Well guys, I have done it!

moved the stairgate from the stairs to the kitchen doorway.... moved my partners cricket bag and used that area as a 'doggy base' with one of Jins mattresses and a small selection of toys. All these things have been used so they smell like her

First of all, I walked into the kitchen, got a toy and played with Jin, then shut the backdoor and the stairgate while we played. We had a great time. Then I opened the doors again.

A short while later, I walked into the kitchen (Jin followed), I gave her a chew and walked out the stairgate, leaving her in. She followed me to the gate and sat (chew hanging from mouth) watching me. A minute passed.... and she just sniffed around the kitchen, totally unbothered. I opened the gate as though nothing had happened and she seemed non-plussed!

Am I doing this ok? Having play times and alone times in the kitchen with the gate shut? Shes doing very well!

That's great - I am sure she will be fine. Is her crate in the kitchen as well?

No.... livingroom, but some of her bedding and toys have been put in a corner (which she has already discovered). Its quite a 'sheltered' corner.... with a counter above it (the sort of space you would put a dishwasher or a fridge?). Will that be ok? She doesnt seem to mind it.....

*UPDATE*

Jin spent a whole 30 mins in the kitchen, without incident, while I popped to the shop!

So proud!
