look what was brought to us today :o)))

Had a telephone call to say a cat had caught a baby bird
and could it be brought to us

of course we said yes,it is feathered wouldn,t turn anything feathered away from this house

we were told they thought it was a baby kestral
well they turned up with the bird
it is not injured but infact is not a baby kestrel but a sweet little swift

so it will be staying here for a while until it is old enough to leave

Aw that's lovely that you'll look after it! we need someone like you. My cat brought in a baby bird and put it in a hat on the floor last year, then she went out again. I phoned the RSPB and they just said to let it recover and then put it outside in the hope the parent would come for it

Talk about being helpful!

Good on you for looking after the little swift!

Lottie i could never turn away any animal tbh
we have baby rats dumped on our doorstep before

and the RSPB don,t seem to care,a couple of years ago a huge seagull got knocked over in our road,it couldn,t get up and was in danger of getting squashed
we took it in and put it in the downstairs toilet so it was safe and quiet
rang the RSPCA and RSPB and both told us to just let it go

it ended up staying in our shed for 4 weeks with us feeding it
then one day we opened the door and it flew off

made me feel really good

i won,t give up on this little swift,it is a sweetie

Thank you Hannah
i think it will be fine
we have checked it for bites and it has none,so it looks like the people got to the bird before the cat could do any damage

and also hubby caught some flys and dug up some worms and it is eating really well
so hopefully it will be fine and we can release it in a few days
when we know it can fly

If you do want to 'rehab' it for the wild Jax, you might want to have a chat with George at knoxwood wildlife sanctuary. He's somewhat of an expert with this and would definately give you some help

He/She is gorgeous btw...

If you do end up with another edition then the bird couldn't of wished for a better surrogate mum than you.

Wish you and the swift the best of luck
