Hacking out

Hi there, another question im afraid!

My horse sometimes slips as we hack out, can anyone advise me what i need to help stop this?

when you say slips, do you mean his shoes are a problem, or do you think its more to do with his body, legs?

what sort of horse is it? what age? what sort of ground does he slip on? can he lift all his legs properly to have his feet done?

As above plus if you tend to let him "lollop" along ie. without much rein contact and not walking up to the bridle horses tend to trip and slip more.

where is he slippin? when doing a lot a road work we had studs put on the shoes

I would ask your farrier about getting stud holes fitted in your shoes. There are a variety of different studs that you could use then when riding in slippy fields and when jumping etc. Your farrier should be able to advise you more.
