blue and gold macaw baby thread 2009

Our first blue and gold macaw baby has hatched today

we have another 4 eggs to hatch

as soon as i get pictures i will post them
and will update so you can watch them grow again this year

eww aint it an ugly wee sole,{but in the cutest possible way lol} in that sort of ET way, you would never for a moment think of the beauty of a bird it will be when its bigger, look forward to the updates and seeing it turn into a lovely bird

yes Shona i call them aliens at this stage
but yes they grow into such beautiful birds and it is fab watching them change so much

so...what happens with them when they are born? does mum look after them? what do they eat?

As Jackie is offline i will answer with my very limited knowledge.... Mum and dad take care of the babies and (i believe!) take turns in feeding them by regurgitating for them... yummy!

Though, i think Jackie will be taking these babies away for handrearing...??
