Poaching an egg in the microwave.....

Have I got this right?

Lightly oil/butter a cup and break egg into it.

Pierce yolk.

Microwave.

Anyone know how long for please?

I don;t even bother with the oil/butter. Just pop it in small teacup, pierce the yolk the pop it in micorwave. If you cover it with a saucer it will take a bit longer. I normally put a bit of kitchen towel over the cup, just in case the egg pops so does not cover the microwave. Hmm as for timing, I usually do it for 30 secs, then further 20 secs to amke sure the yolk deos not cook too much. Mind you, I still often end up with solid yolk,every egg seems different

I have a plastic microwave egg poacher, just pop them in, and pierce the yolk like the others said ! I normally do mine for 45 secs and they are eggsactly how I like them (did ya see what I did there !!! lol !! )

It is cooked when you here the popping------then you scrape it off the sides of the microwave----which saves cutting it upon the plate.

We've got a container that holds little cups for 4 eggs. These sit in a 'rack' that holds the cups off the bottom of the container. You put a bit of water in there and put the valve equipped lid on and they pretty much always turn out nice and soft!

Sorry, no idea where it came from....
