I'm sorry to read this thread, as I babysit a GSD. But she is very submissive (sp?) The Rottie, Tyson, I told you about somewhere else, is not especially dominating, but Bella starts whimpering and lays down for him every time- well really she does this to almost every dog, its just Luna she doesn't do it to, but thats probablely because the have grown up together.
