Breed names gone wrong...?

I had a call a couple of days ago from a man who is having some issues with his dog, or his fathers dog - couldn;t quite work out what he was trying to tell me...anyway- as we got talking I asked what kind of dog it was....

Apparenltly....its a GSD x Malute.....I said...Pardon...he said A Malute, you know, one of those husky type things...

Ahh...a MalAMute...'Oh..is that what thier called!'

It really does make you wonder sometimes!

i remember when a lady rang me about grooming her lhasa aposa. i politely corrected her saying it must be a lhasa apso but she was having none of it. in fact she asked me to bring evidence of my training round as she was concerned i'd never heard of the breed!

anyway, i turn up armed with certificates and i'm greeted by a very cute and very obviously lhasa apso! she still argued with me and eventually looked out the dogs papers to put me straight. there in black and white were the words 'lhasa apso'.

to say she was embarrassed would be an understatement and i did remind her over the years of how 'unusual' little lady the lhasa aposa was!
