Where are anal glands?

I've always thought anal glands were about 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock form the bottom hole.

My dog has a red patch at about 10 o'clock about an inch away from his bottom hole. Coudl this be an anal gland issue?

Anal glands are at 10 o clock and 2 o clock. So yes, it could be an anal gland.

The anal glands are pear shaped and are at 10 and 2 on the clock face. They can be expressed if necessary by appyling pressure external by pushing the gland from bottom to the top. Internal need to be by using your gloved finger with KY jelly or lubricate and again from the bottom to the top. It could also be a sinus track infection if not the anal glands then I would get it checked. What breed are we talking about as some breeds are prone .

I was told 4 o clock and 8 o clock and shown by my vet how to express them as my Spaniel has a problem with hers. So am now confused!
