Told today i shouldnt walk my dog!!!!

I have two dogs one is very friendly and one can be dog aggressive if dogs charge him or bark at him. I am very aware of this so hes always walked on a long line or extendable lead.Today i took the dogs to walk by the river and around the neighbouring fields were my mum and dad live. as we are walking down a path i notice a small grey dog in front of us so we put my other dog on lead as i always ask before she interacts with others and ty was brought to heel. we looked around as good view of area and there is no one in sight.I got my pet corrector out as no idea of approaching dogs temperament. when on a path a good 50 mtres from ares i see two oldish blokes with some other dogs. so i politley shouted over and asked if it was there dog and said ty can be dog aggressive. For a start the guy shouted the dog who took no notice then the torent of abuse came how i shouldnt walk my dog and it always nice to meet selfish people like me. i was a little shocked as his dog did not obviously listen to him and untill i shouted over he had no idea where is dog was.I dont excpect people to tip toe round me and ty and he can be ok with low energy dogs and he his able to walk by dogs no problem even dogs off lead if they donnt do the stated above but its nice when the owner is aware of my situation and is willing to keep there dogs under control or at least know they could be heading for trouble.apart from one other miner incident the walk was brill and ty got to playball in a enclosed field where there was no danger of any other dogs.

That attitude drives me nuts. What do they want us to do? Keep our dogs locked up 24/7? I've had people tell me the same thing despite it being their dog that's out of control.

people like them give dog owners bad names. you done everything perfectly you warned him that your dog can be dog agressive so i dont know why he had to be so rude.

dont let fools like this bother you and enjoy your walks.

I have had that too , and once they referred to Tom as 'it' which I didnt like too much as you can imagine , I take a very safe and sensible approach with Tom as you clearly did this morning , dont let folks like this spoil the pleasure your doggies bring , I am getting better at just thinking Hey Ho , another life experience !

Ignore them! You did everything right and you are not at all selfish for wanting to walk your dog, you have just as much right to be there as that ignorant little man

So suck it up and continue doing what you are doing

I've had the "you shouldn't be allowed to walk a dog like that around here" comments also (even though the dog was onlead).

Don't let it get to you - you were being responsible.

They shouldn`t have been rude but if someone came towards be with a corrector spray and shouted that they had an aggressive dog I`d get a bit nervous too.
Maybe the spray was a step too far?
If you muzzle your dog maybe you could relax a bit and let your dog socialise more.
