Thanks everyone! Will wait until they are all a little more confident before introducing them to the others

I love getting rats from a proper breeder, but always get rescues as well to even it up

They are beauties. Are there many specific rat rescues or are a lot rehomed through general animal rescues, say the RSPCA? I used to have rats, they were adorable - I keep saying that one day I will get some more....

I have never had any from the RSPCA or the SSPCA. All my rescues have been from small rescues. These ones were from a small rescue in Sunderland, but we went to Berwick, about half way, to meet them

None have been "just" rats, most are "small animal" rescues

If I had more space I would love an SRS

How come you don't have rats now?
Great cage I had in my time all the cages below:

And these were my babies:

I miss them all terribly. I stopped having rats when Luna and Bilbo were the last 2 and sent them to live with someone who had a colony so neither were alone when 1 died. My husband liked the rats, but didn't want me to get any more and I wanted a break as it was too hard losing them so frequently.
Now we don't have any because we chose a dog who I don't think would be safe around them. I think it would be stressful for him and for them to be in the same house and if they were kept upstairs they wouldn't get the attention they'd need. Maybe when we have children and they want a pet, we'll get a pair of rats

Sorry for the very long answer to your question! I wish you all the best with your little ones - please post lots of pictures to help those of us who need rattie fixes!

Oh they are just gorgeous!
I understand what you mean as to why you are not getting any more just now though

Cage wise.. I had a weird bird cage, then a Tom, then a tall chinchilla, then another tom and now the samo! I had a freddy 2 as well ontop of the tom, but couldn't cut the tom to make a tower so the freddy got sold! I also have a critter1 for intros and the spare cage, for like when I get babies

Alfie being half JRT I was always so careful about him ignoring them, but tbh he has never been fussed about rats! So got kinda lucky lol.

Shame you aren't closer or I would have said you could always come round and see my girls!

ETA: Thanks everyone
