Normal behavior for a 18 week old boxer?

I just picked up my 18 week old boxer from a farm yesterday ( i live in a small city). The puppy will not go through any doors, will not go down certain stairs, others ar efine though. She cannot be left alone without whining non stop. When we first got her she was with her parents and other sister. I

I am thinking that it is becuase she living out in the middle of nowhere that she wont go through doors? It is very weird because it is only when the carpet changes colors or the carpet turns to cement or some other surface. If the floor is the same color she has no problem going through the door.... Im new to owning a dog so i dont know if this is normal behavior or what. Could she have seperation anxiety? and she will not eat treats of any kind or play with toys. normal behavior?

This is normal behaviour for any breed that has been born and raised in an unenriched environment and never been habituated to varying inanimate object or socialised with animate ones.

It is possible that very heavy habituation programme and careful socialisation can mitigate some of the extreme behaviours but it will take some time and this will mean a very heavy investment in time and patience from you.

Nothing is normal at the moment, his world has just turned upside down so take things slow for a few days as he gets used to you

once he settles down you can work on the issues - at the moment just let him explore and get used to things on his own

My boy at around 8 months suddenly became really fearful of doorways like you describe
It was the change in surfaces, I think he was scared he would slip or something
but a mixture of letting him choose to walk tru the door and rewarding him once he had decided to and doing agility type training getting him to walk on different surfaces as a rewarding trick and he is fine now

and it is pretty normal of your pup to cry when being alone just now - he has never been alone
I wouldnt call it SA at this stage - just a puppy who has never had to be alone

again build up slowly - wonder in and out of the room when he is eating
do some 'stay' exercises where you go out of sight
send him into other rooms to find things

I had to put rugs down for one dog who had spent most of his life in kennels as he freaked on Laminate.
Well done for taking this poor dog in. I bet he`s been confined in one area and not been out at all, so everything is frightening.
Let him explore slowly and praise him when he does. You could try using his usual food as rewards until he understands treats?
