Both Suki and I are on low fat diets - she is happy with Ryvita biscuits with a little laughing cow extra light on it for special occasions. She also eats Quorn now - a great low fat meat substitute.

Well Mini's oatcakes have gone down an absolute storm. I added a spoon of honey for a bit of sweetness and she absolutely loves them. Thank you Mini, you're a star!

I've also made Lynn's turkey mince balls and once again, loves them. Thanks to you also Lynn.

Can you tell what I've been doing this morning then?

Hi Jackie I also add a little honey particularly for sick dogs but beware doing this regularly because it can rot the teeth.

The oat cakes are pure starch and as such very good for a runny tummy too .

Great recipe ideas everyone!

One question - what would the shelf life be of the oatcake ones with or without the liver or tuna added?

Was wondering how long a batch would keep for....

Hi Ziva the plain oat cakes would probably freeze ok and I have kept them in the fridge for three days but I usually make them fresh every two days, they only take five minutes to make.

I was surprised at this as I didn't think liver was fatty....just looked at the packet of lambs liver i bought for the dogs - it says 1.2% fat (0.6% of which is saturated).

That is pretty low by any standards.

Perhaps H was thinking of liver pate? I know that is very fatty.
