Opinions please?.....

I've been looking around for a decent senior/light dog food and found this.

http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct...,d.d2k&cad=rja

What do people think?. My 4 border collies are on Skinners duck and rice. 2 of the older ones seem to hold their weight a bit to much on it. They barely have anything in their bowls.

Thanks in advance

CSJ is a good food although I don't feed it to mine any more. Can't comment on this particularly variety, sorry!

I'm sure if you email them they'll send a sample.
I've never fed it either but it seems a pretty good food for the price (cheaper than bakers, pedigree etc.)
i was going to put millie on it but the maize being the first ingredient worried me a little as she has wheat allergies.

i'm sure someone on here will feed it though

I have 3 dogs, aged 16y 3m; 13y 10m and 11y 11m. I have never bought senior food, just gradually adjusted the quantity of normal food as they aged.

None of them are overweight and all a pretty fit considering their ages, the breed average life span being 12 - 13.

That's understandable, however with my dog she needs senior food for the glucosamine, MSM etc. even though she's on yumove tablets meaning other dogs may require the senior diet even if their weight stays steady on adult

First ingredient is maize ? so not a good food in my opinion, also only 24% of meat in there, not the worst but not great either?

If food is lower in protein its usually packed with cereals so not exactly gluten free if it has maize, rice & oats in which are also grain..can get cross contamination as the harvesting machines aren't cleaned out when they've collected the wheat then do the others..same with machinery its processed in.

Try looking for a potato based one, you can have it with more potato than meat/fish if you want to get a lower protein level. I would think a fish based one would be lower calorie too (than a red meat based one) for an older dog that's not as active.

I just started my old lady on Fishmongers Salmon & potato she will be 12yrs old in a few weeks!

Thanks for all your reply's

I have started feeding this food to my 4 border collies and touch wood they are doing really well on it. If anything their coats seems shinier. Their stools have remained the same so i am really pleased with it.

They love it too

So all in all thumbs up on this one
