Dogs puberty??

Hello everybody!
We' ve got a puppy 3 days ago. He is a 8 weeks old Malamute/Husky mix.
Its our first dog.I read a lot about both breeds, and training a Puppy. Now Im wondering how (especially this breed) acts in puberty? He's gonna get kind of big.And what do you think about neutering?! I wanna be prepared, even when this time is far away.
Im also glad to hear any experience you've got with those dogs.
Thanks for reading!

Hello and welcome

Personally, I wouldn't neuter until he is 18 months - 2 years and pretty much fully grown, if at all.
Some malamutes are known to have same sex aggression issues, s that might be something to watch out for.

Expect the very worst and you'll be pleasantly surprised by anything less

Hello Sina and welcome

Puberty arrives around 6 months of age and there may be no noticeable effects if you put in lots of training and socialization before that age.

I am not a great fan of neutering dogs at all though I do spay bitches.

If you do intend to neuter I agree with BlueJay, give the dog chance to mature and in larger breeds this is around 2 years old.

Thanks Meg too.
Its good to hear that the puberty does not have such an BIG effect. I've heard from someone they may forget "all" their previous trained manners,...

Good luck with your new puppy. Providing you socialise your new family member and put in plenty of training (as has already been mentioned) and keep up that training right through to adulthood, puberty should provide very few problems. Also it will come at a time when you can start increasing the amount of exercise your dog gets, and I have a little motto "a tired dog is a well behaved dog" as long as your dog has both mental and physical stimulation. I, from a personal standpoint do not like to neuter males and would consider this only on veterinary advice after all other options were tried and exhausted.

It's more a pushing of boundaries than forgetting all they have been trained. Be consistent through it all and you should come out the other side well

Another thing to consider is fencing. Huskies and mallies are good climbers and enthusiastic diggers. They do like to go walk-about. Neutered ones are not exempt, but are less likely to go courting a bitch on season. It's easiest to manage this if the dog never gets it into his head that he can escape. After they get out a few times they can get very inventive. So have good fencing from day one.

Dogs end puberty when they stop growing, this is when the growth plates in the long bones close, which is triggered by the sex hormones. To neuter before this occurs means the dog will grow taller & be at risk of not developing correctly skeletally. It can also result in lighter weaker bone density. The bigger the dog the later he/she should be neutered

Thank you Guys for all your advices !
Yes, I think so too gordon mac that exercise is a good preventing solution. And I wont decide to neuter him without asking a vet, and of course if its not necessary
